Patients Success Story
Michelle O : “I can’t believe I didn’t do this sooner! I’m a 28yo single mum to a wonderful little boy and I just have an amazing lease on life now that I never had before. We’ve done a high ropes course together, climbed a few Glasshouse Mountains, we swim together and I’m actually going to the beach and swimming in public! I feel such a massive difference in all aspects of my world now. It took me a while to see the differences in the mirror but I’ve finally gotten to where everyone else and I’m seeing the new ‘skinny me’. I’m 168cms tall and I’ve gone from 109kgs to 69kgs (just) in 9 months. Milestone moments along the way that I would have never done before: Signing up for online dating (eekk!), realising I fit into clothes in a ‘skinny girl’ shop, sitting very comfortably in the lecture seats at uni without being squished, finally cracking the 60’s for the first time in 9 years, and realising that I’m actually really proud of what I’ve achieved and of myself for having the courage to get help and do this.” *
Scott and Marissa : “Scott and I have had sleeve surgery with WeightLoss Solutions Australia. My surgery was in October 2011, and Scott’s March 2014. Since his surgery Scott has lost 50 kg, and since mine I have lost 78 kg. I did have bypass surgery in June 2014. Our lives have changed remarkably including our activity level, we are much more likely to participate in active events over the weekend rather than what used to be our normal sedentary weekends. We exercise together and are able to keep each other motivated. We are both happier within ourselves, and overall really. Neither of us have regrets from the surgery, only that we didn’t do it sooner. We are both much fitter and healthier and feel great!” *
Karen Faneco : “My weight loss trip so far has gone really well from a size 20 to a size 8 – 10. It is the best thing I have ever done, no regrets. I no longer have high blood pressure tablets, no blood noses due to excess weight issues and my health is the best it’s been in a long time. I now walk 6 days a week. I would recommend weight loss surgery to anyone who is considering doing it, the staff are helpful and Dr Reza Adib is wonderful. Without this surgery I would hate to think where I would be now.” *
Sam Isdale : ‘I’ve been overweight since my late teens. I’m now 36 and realised that life was meant to be more than it was. I smiled and laughed and apparently was the funny person at the party but inside I was completely broken, hated myself and thought I was beyond being healthy again, the figure to lose was just too big to comprehend being able to do. I didn’t realise I could access my super to have the surgery and once a friend told me I made the appointment straight away. My starting weight was 142kg and I was sleeved on 20 June 2014. Leading up to my surgery my worry was my kids. Was I being selfish doing this and what if something went wrong. But now 9 months post surgery and 52 kg lighter it is the best thing I’ve done. I’m a better mother, I’m not a sideline mum, we go to waterparks, bush walking and hiking up mountains and crazily enough I love it. I cherish these memories I am making together with my kids. My smile is real, I’m happy, I’m slowly gaining confidence in myself. When I receive a compliment from a man they are no longer shot down with Sam attitude of ‘is this a joke are you making fun of me’. People sit beside me on the train and we don’t squish together anymore, I can cross my legs like a lady, my stomach does not touch the steering wheel, I can wear nice underwear, a normal sized towel wraps around me! Little things like that are now my achievements I notice not the figure on the scales. I have a bit more to lose yet but I could easily say I’m happy where I’m at with current weight. I feel like I’m ‘normal’ and don’t stand out as the fat person. I feel like I can eat in public and not be looked at as if I’m disgusting. My only regret is not doing this sooner. I’m so thankful to my WLSA family for giving me my life back.’ *
